The FMCSA just dropped the hammer on five ELD providers, removing them from the approved ELD list for failing to meet federal standards. If your fleet uses one of these devices, you need to act now.
Starting today, October 17, 2025, the following ELDs are no longer compliant with the ELD mandate. Carriers still using them after the grace period face immediate out-of-service (OOS) orders, hefty fines, and major headaches.
Here are the devices that were just added to the FMCSA's official Revoked Devices list:

The FMCSA has set a 60-day grace period ending December 16, 2025. Here’s your action plan:
-
Stop Using Revoked ELDs Immediately. Switch to paper logs or another compliant method to track Hours of Service (HOS) for now.
-
Save Your Data. Before you unplug the old device, download and back up all your HOS data. You’ll need it for audits.
-
Replace Your Devices by December 16, 2025. You must have a new, compliant ELD installed and running by this deadline. Find a replacement on the FMCSA Registered Devices list.
Don't wait until the last minute. The FMCSA is serious about this deadline. Here’s what happens if you’re caught using a revoked ELD on or after December 16, 2025:
- Drivers will be placed out-of-service (OOS) on the spot.
- Carriers face a “No record of duty status” violation under 49 CFR 395.8(a)(1), which could lead to fines of up to $16,000 per violation.
- Carriers also face hits to their CSA scores and difficulty booking a load with a freight broker.
Don't bet on these ELD providers getting re-registered in time. Waiting could cost you by keeping your trucks off the road.
This is a good opportunity to switch to a trusted, top-tier provider. We recommend sticking with industry leaders like Motive, Samsara, or Geotab. They have a proven track record of compliance and reliability.
- Motive (formerly KeepTruckin): Great for fleets that need a driver-friendly, easy-to-use ELD system.
- Samsara: Best for larger fleets that want an all-in-one platform with video and advanced telematics.
- Geotab: A flexible and cost-effective option for fleets that need customization.
Before you choose an ELD provider, always double-check that the provider is on the FMCSA Registered Devices list.
The December 16, 2025 deadline is firm. With OOS orders and big fines on the table, you can't afford to ignore this. Protect your drivers, your CSA score, and your business.
